Hello, My name is Chris Page.  I work as a job coach on a PRN basis for St. John's Community Services in Paris, TN.  I am taking this course to help build my skill set to become a more productive and more effctive job coach in the future.

This is similar to Occupational Therapy

Before coming to this job, I went to school in hopes of becoming a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.  One of the things that was taught in that training was task analysis.  I have had some experience in helping friends and family change some of the ways they did things to help the quality of their lives.  It seems that this job analysis is really no different.

Hello, I am new job coach with Easterseals I have been a job coach for 2 months now. I have not planned a job coaching analysis yet but I have assisted at jobs with our individuals and provided transportation with quite a few people we support here. I can tell you about a circumstances I had with a individual working at a resturaunt. I was there just to monitor and give transition cues as needed with the individual. During the job I was transitioning him from each table so that he wouldnt repeat clean areas , he became a little frustrated with my direction method and told me "No" with a little bit of a raised tone. I then didnt want to have the situtation esclate and remembered that to just give them space and give them time to calm and then mention the task again later. So I assisted in transitioning to a different task and we came back to the old task later. This method worked out great and we encouraged each other with a "Good Job" High five when all task were completed for the day.

I have been a job coach in

I have been a job coach in the past and I am now working as an employment specialist. Have been assisting with job coaching. I have learned that working closely with the employer prior to the employee starting is critical. Coming up with a plan for employee training and letting the employer determine if job coaching is necessary at first. Some employers are comfortable assisting and do not want the presence of a job coach. Also the individual may not want a coach. I found the last 2 individuals I placed did not want me to come in right away. I always let the employer and individual know that I am just a call or text away and do check in regularly.

Job Analysis Stories

The steps taken at our Agengy for Job Analysis are done through our INTAKE process.  We take the opportunity to come together to speak about the interest of the individual.  The indivudal, counselor, natural supports, and job coach specialist work closely with individual.  All information is used to better understand the indivual.  We use all experiences and interest; such as, volunteering within the community, family events and experiences, and daily personal activities like reading, walking pet, helping with younger siblings, cooking, boad games, etc.

We currently use job analysis

We currently use job analysis forms internally when we do our inital intake interviews to see what may be good fits in regards to job opportunities and what the person can actually do in regards to various positions in which they may be interested in.

I have just been hired, and

I have just been hired, and am currently going through all the training necessary to get mt certifications, which are required before I can begin any actual work. But I'm learnng how important all the preparation is, and how important it is to KNOW the person I am trying to serve. All decisions should be made with them in mind. Thanks for all your insights.

Job Analysis Stories

I am currently a job coach. I feel like if a job analysis would have been done that some of the person served that i support there could be major improvement in the way that they complete certain tasks. It could also have helped find a better fit for some of the persons served.

What a great tool!

I have been coaching as a tech for over a year. I have been thru two interviews with a client. Having a job analysis to present to my client and the team would have been very helpful. It would have painted a better picture to know if the job would have been a good fit.

Job Analysis Stories

As a job coach, I search for opportunities for my individuals. I will be completing my first job analysis in the upcoming months. I'm excited to apply these topics from the forums. Thank you all for discussing your experiences. They provide me with a rounded perspective.

I just became employed a

I just became employed a month ago as an Employment and Community Facilitator. I do not necessarily have a job coaching or job analysis story. But I was a Volunteer Program Manager and had a volunteer come an join me during the week. He had Down Syndrome and this was his first experience in a work setting. I had to learn on the fly but I observed what tasks he was able to do independently, what tasks he needed help with, and what tasks he simply was unable to do. I adjusted the office work tasks and gave him the ones he was most strong at. We worked together on the tasks he had difficulty with.

Job Analysis Experience

Prior to having my students begin their internship, I am a Vocational Skills Coordinator, I first met with the manager of the restaurant they would be interning at. We discussed in depth the specifics about the table set up and other jobs as well as the expectations on the part of the restaurant personnel and our students and staff. I took pictures in a task analysis manner showing each individual step which I later turned into accommodations that are used on a daily basis with many of my students. I also created a social story to prepare them for the experience.

 hi everyone, I have analyze

hi everyone, I have analyze that my individual works better when  I split his 30 breaks, this gives him time to colect his thoughts and not focus on mistakes. I am fairly new to the job coaching world. But have observed that my individuals needs reassurance to feel confident in work task. Have express that he is dinga great job and as long as he follows the routine as we both discussed he doesnt have anythng to fear
